Manufacturer : SHURE Super Analog Stylus (SAS) Profile Tip The tip of the Super Analog Stylus is carefully chosen from single-crystal natural diamonds. The laser-cut diamond closely resembles that of the cutting stylus used on a cutting lathe to produce the acetate master disks used in vinyl production. This allows the SAS tip to reach into the deepest recesses of the record groove in order to retrieve details which were previously inaccessible to other stylus profiles. Due to its wide contact area with the groove wall, the SAS can reproduce a more expansive bandwidth of information with higher fidelity. Cantilever The four facets of SAS/R’s crystalline ruby cantilever taper toward the diamond tip. This tapered ruby cantilever design allows for lower moving mass, giving the SAS/R even greater ability reproduce vibrations in the record groove with precision, accuracy, speed, and fidelity. There is NO interchangeability between VN5MR and VN5xMR. Returning to vinyl, I found an old Denon 2550 DD turntable with the ultralight AT1100 arm and a tired cartridge. I then found a used Shure V15V-xMR and was impressed on first try. Not knowing the history of the stylus I was pleased to come across the Jico VN5xMR HG SAS/R. I am so, so glad I bought it. There is so much more fine detail from lowest low to highest high. Like the original Shure, the tracking is superb and if anything I'd say surface noise is lower. I can't believe that some of my 70's LP's had so much detail that I've never heard before (even with MC cartridges) - thank you for helping me hear it.

I bought this stylus for the first time, my old is the original Shure. When I replaced it I did a listening test, first with the old one and then with the new one. I was not alone and even those present were astonished as I was by the remarkable change: from those that used to be well-played songs they turned into live and exciting tracks, simply fantastic!
