Super Analog Stylus (SAS) Profile Tip
The tip of the is carefully chosen from single-crystal natural diamonds. The laser-cut diamond closely resembles that of the cutting stylus used on a cutting lathe to produce the acetate master disks used in vinyl production. This allows the SAS tip to reach into the deepest recesses of the record groove in order to retrieve details which were previously inaccessible to other stylus profiles. Due to its wide contact area with the groove wall, the SAS can reproduce a more expansive bandwidth of information with higher fidelity.
Cantilever
is one of the most suitable materials for cantilevers. its density is low, Young’s modulus is large, and the speed of sound propagation is approximately 2.6 times faster than that of aluminum. Due to the characteristics above, boron cantilever can more precisely trace the information contained in the record grooves than aluminum cantilever.
There is NO interchangeability between VN5MR and VN5xMR. Please confirm your cartridge / stylus number and select suitable stylus.

This is the third stylus profile I have used in my Ultra 500, having the original hyper eliptical, then the Micro Ridge VN5MR and now the Jico SAS version VN5MR. Both numbers 2 and three were an improvement over the already good HE stylus. The SAS takes the Shure VN5MR to the next level in detail, transparency and dynamics. Running through an all-tube phono preamp, I’m in no rush to get back to my low output moving coils. I just ordered another SAS to have as a backup. Well done, Jico.

This stylus sounds at least as good as my original Shure stylus….and maybe the highs sound even better. I have not conducted an A/B test, however. Note that the weights are a bit different with the new brush weighing apparently .3 grams rather than .5. So, to track at 1gm you would set your downforce to 1.3gm using the brush.

What can I say. This is an amazing stylus. My records have come alive. The sound quality is much superior to the original Shure stylus. Your staff at JICO should be proud of themselves for producing such an amazing product. Thank You L. Mann
